Environmental Policy
Before reading HEMPLE'S
Group Environmental Policy it should be mentioned that the
term "environment" in our language covers health,
safety and environment. Further more HEMPLE'S Millennium Environmental
Strategy covers HEMPLE'S environmental Policy and the Environmental
management System.
As demands to environmental
performance in the modern world are increasing, HEMPEL'S Group
Environmental policy has consequently been updated and "prepared
for the future".
The latest update was approved
by the Board of HEMPEL on 7th April 2000 as part of a new
environmental strategy ensuring proper implementation of the
polciy in the HEMPEL Group
HEMPEL is conscious of the
environment and accepts its environmental responsibility,
locally and globally. Within the limits of sound economics,
HEMPEL supports the protection of the environment through
its policies and actions. HEMPEL eorks actively to reduce
the environmental impact of its operations.
It is HEMPEL'S policy
to:
• Ensure compliance
with all relevant international and local regulations, and
supplement then with internal standards where necessary.
• Maintain a management
system that ensures the continuous improvement of the health,
safety and environmental performance.
• Educate employees
and customers to operate in a safe and responsible manner,
both with respect to their own protection and that of those
around them.
• Optimize the use
of resources through reuse, recycling and consumption reduction.
• Engage in open discussions
and projects on health, safety and environmental issues internally
as well as externally.
In addition to the environmental
policy the HEMPEL companies operate with environmental goals
and objectives. Some environmental goals are defined on the
local - national - level, others are HEMPEL Group environmental
goals.
Working with environmental
goals and improvements is already an integrated part of the
activities in the HEMPEL companies. the new element today
is the systematic approach and follow up, locally as well
as centrally.
The tool for this is an
environmental management system.
